Since its inception, Best Lawyers in America has listed Donn C. Fullenweider as one of the premier family law trial lawyers in the United States. He also has achieved the highest rating available by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell publication. His skill in his field as a negotiator and trial lawyer has been described in two books about his cases and several national magazines, including "Town & Country", "Harper's Bazaar", and "The National Law Journal." Local magazines, such as "Houston City Magazine" and "Ultra", have also touted his expertise.
Donn Fullenweider has been recognized by fellow attorneys for his leadership and his national standing by being elected President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas, as well as Chairman of its Litigation Section.
He is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of family law and trial techniques throughout the United States and has spoken before Bar groups in every major city in America. He is also the author of more than seventy-five legal papers and articles.
As a mentor and teacher to other attorneys, Mr. Fullenweider has been the founder of many law study groups, including the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and the Burta Rhodes Raborn American Inns of Court--Family Law, of which he served as President.
In 1989, twenty-four years after founding the firm of Haynes & Fullenweider, Mr. Fullenweider started the firm of Donn Fullenweider & Associates which later became The Fullenweider Firm. Now, in partnership with Randall Wilhite, he has formed the firm of Fullenweider Wilhite.
Mr. Fullenweider has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the fields of civil trial law and family law from the inception of the certifications in Texas. He is one of only three Houston Diplomats in the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and is a Fellow in the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is also honored as an Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates.
In 2004, Mr. Fullenweider was inducted into the Hall of Legends of the State Bar of Texas. Only 9 attorneys had previously received this honor, 6 of them posthumously.
He received both his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston.
He is licenced in all Texas State and Local Courts, the United States Court of Appeals - Fifth Circuit and the United States District Court - Southern District of Texas.
He has been named as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and named twice as one of the Top 5 Family Law Attorneys in Texas by Texas Lawyer newspaper.
Town & Country Magazine named Mr. Fullenweider as one of America's Top Ten Divorce Lawyers in their January 1998 issue.
He has been rated AV (their highest rating) by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 35 years.
