While studying at the University of Texas, Jody Saylor walked past the campus motto every day: “What starts here changes the world.” From an early age, she knew she wanted to use her education to give back and serve her community. As she explored different career paths, she knew that becoming an attorney would allow her to do exactly that as an advocate for her clients.
To gain immediate courtroom experience, Jody began her legal career practicing criminal defense and family law after being licensed in 2018. After the legal landscape shifted following COVID-19 in 2020, her practice evolved to focus exclusively on family law. She understands how overwhelming the legal process can be and is committed to representing her clients with empathy and compassion while providing zealous advocacy both in and out of the courtroom. She takes pride in helping clients navigate the difficult processes of divorce and child custody cases and works to reduce their stress by educating and empowering them every step of the way. She is especially passionate about advocating for clients in high-conflict cases involving domestic violence, child abuse, and parental alienation.
In 2015, Jody earned her undergraduate degree in Classics and the Business Foundations Program at the University of Texas, graduating with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the country’s oldest and most prestigious honor society. She then received a full academic scholarship to Baylor University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor and mediator certification in 2018. While at Baylor, she studied abroad at the Academy of the Advocate in St. Andrews, Scotland in both 2016 and 2017, honing her trial advocacy skills. She also participated in Baylor’s renowned Practice Court program, where she was one of four students to participate in Baylor’s first dual civil and criminal Practice Court mock trial program. In 2024, she was nominated for and completed the Tim Evans Trial College, where she continued to develop her trial expertise.
Jody grew up outside of Houston in Austin County, Texas, where she often returns to visit family and enjoy the slower pace away from the city. Outside the courtroom, Jody enjoys cycling through Hermann Park with her husband, trying new restaurants, and curling up with her cats and a good TV show.
